UPAYA PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PERMULAAN DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN RODA PINTAR SISWA KELAS I SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract


This research is motivated by first grade students who have difficulty in reading early, especially in recognizing letters, pronouncing a letter, distinguishing the shape and sound of similar letters and reading delays. The purpose of this study is to improve the ability to read early in first grade elementary school students using smart wheel media. The method used in this study is the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with 30 students. The research model used in this study is the Kemmis and Mc Taggart spiral model consisting of several stages including planning (plan), implementation (act) and observation (observe) and reflection (reflect). This study lasted 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of 2 actions. The data collection techniques used were observation and testing. The achievement indicator in this study is said to be successful if the student's ability test score has reached the KKM of 80% then the study must be stopped. The results of this study indicate that the use of smart wheel media in learning Indonesian can improve the ability to read early in first grade students of Rancagoong State Elementary School. This can be proven by the value of the initial reading ability test results. Based on the results of the pre-cycle, the average score of the student's initial reading ability test was 67 with a less category. In cycle I, the average score of students increased to 75 with a sufficient category. In cycle II, the highest score obtained by students was 85, thus getting a good category. Therefore, this study was stopped because it had reached a success percentage of 85% (25 students completed) and 17% (5 students had not completed). It can be concluded that the application of smart wheel media can help students improve their initial reading skills.
