Abstract
This study aimed to describe the development, feasibility, and effectiveness of podcast-based instructional videos in improving the critical viewing skills of third-grade elementary school students. The study was conducted at SDN Serang 03. A Research and Development (R&D) method was employed using the 4D development model, consisting of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and questionnaires. The results of expert validation showed that the media expert assessment obtained an average score percentage of 88.75%, categorized as “Highly Feasible”; the material expert assessment obtained 95.71%, categorized as “Highly Feasible”; and the language expert assessment obtained 89%, also categorized as “Highly Feasible.” The N-Gain analysis yielded an overall mean score of 0.8 > 0.7, which was categorized as “High,” indicating a substantial improvement in students’ critical viewing skills. Based on the research and development results, it can be concluded that the podcast-based instructional video is highly feasible and effective in improving the critical viewing skills of third-grade elementary school students. Thus, this medium can serve as an innovative alternative for supporting literacy-oriented learning in elementary education.
